The Heart of Compass Project

The Heart of Compass Project

Our volunteers are an amazing crew of folks who bring enthusiasm, experience and empathy to all that they do for us in the shop, on the water and in the community. From sharpening tools, to helping run outreach events, to working one-on-one with our students in the shop, they are the heart and soul of what we do. Click here for one volunteer's story and to learn how you can get involved.

Founded in 2002, Compass Project has been serving the youth of Maine for more than a decade. Each of our kids is charting his/her own course through obstacles in school and life. Using boat building and on the water programs, we help young men and women develop academic and workplace skills, as well as self-confidence and pride. We hope our story will inspire you to get involved. Indeed, we believe Compass Project kids are truly inspirational!
