Commission a Project

Boat Workshop Dory nearly finished

Your Boat Can Change a Life!

Commission a Boat by Compass Project!
Support local youth and get that wooden boat that you’ve always wanted. From dinghies to daysailers, rowing shells to wood canvas canoes, and kayaks to stand-up paddle boards, Compass Project builds boats to order. Commission a youth-built boat and you will help our student boat builders learn about the responsibilities and rewards of working on a custom project.

All boats are built to professional standards under the supervision of trained staff and volunteers. At the Compass Project boat shop we specialize in glued plywood construction which results in boats that are strong, lightweight and completely watertight. Designs built using skin-on-frame, stitch and glue, cedar strip, and more traditional construction methods are also possible.

As part of a Commission you will:

  • Support great kids and a great cause!!!
  • Regularly meet and interact with the student boat builders and share your love of wooden boats
  • Come into the shop and watch the project unfold.
  • Invite your family and friends to launch your new boat in Compass Project style.
